Preserve Description

Located between a residential area and Airport Expressway, Fogwell Forest protects prairie and woodland habitats. The trail winds through tall grass before visitors enter the mature forest featuring giant oak and beech trees. In the shade beneath these giants are flowering dogwood and pawpaw and an impressive display of spring wildflowers.

The preserve is the year-round home of squirrels, raccoons and great horned owls. As you explore the trails, count how many different kinds of animal tracks you can spot!

Glenn Fogwell and his sisters, Mildred Klopfenstein and Mabel Corville, donated this land — a cherished parcel of their family farm. The land had been in the Fogwell family since 1839 when their great-grandparents settled in Allen County.
