35 of the 65 acres have been dedicated through IDNR's Division of Nature Preserves.
The property provides a panoramic view of Ball Lake from a high grassy meadow. A clear stream forms a ribbon along the floor of a steep ravine, with tall beech and maple trees. The wildflowers on the slopes of the ravine make a carpet with bishop's cap, spring beauty, Virginia waterleaf and trillium. Fish Creek is the the north boundary of the preserve. Scarlet tanagers, indigo bunting and a variety of warblers are seasonal visitors.
