Below are projects for ACRES' office and nature preserves that are open for volunteers to take on. We need volunteer leaders who can take on a project alone, or who can gather a group of volunteers skilled and ambitious enough to take on a project.  The leader will often need to be responsible for gathering the materials and equipment needed to do the project besides getting enough help to carrying out the work needed.  We may have access to some materials.  Except for an ACRES staff person showing you the location and giving instructions on the work needed, you will often be doing the project on your own.
Contact Rachel Sherman , our administrative assistant, if you are interested in any of the tasks below (gold-colored section here).

Wing Haven studio open house host: the first Sunday of each month from 1-5pm, except December, January and February. This is a nice opportunity to learn and tell about the history of an ACRES property, relax and spend a few hours enjoying the scenery.

Scan photographs to be stored in digital format, using the scanner at the office.

Sort and maintain paper files.  Ongoing task.  Sort into file cabinet drawers and boxes.

Input information to computer files. Ongoing task. Keyboarding into office computer system.

Clean office weekly.  Ongoing task.  Weekly sweep, mop and empty trash throughout.  Clean and restock restrooms.

Copy old board minutes on a scanner to computer, to be archived on DVD's,

Distribute ACRES Quarterly magazines.  First weeks of January, April, July and October, deliver copies of the Quarterly to various businesses in Fort Wayne.

Office grounds clean-up.  General maintenance around the Dustin house
