  Tel-Hy Nature Preserve

Southwest of Huntington in Huntington County. From Fort Wayne (I-69 exit 102B) travel southwest on US 24 to Huntington. SR 9 will join US 24 as it by-passes Huntington. At the traffic light where US 24 turns, continue straight on SR 9 to the next traffic light and turn left (east) onto 200N. At the end of 200N turn right (south-southwest) onto Etna Road and then left (south) onto 300W. Watch carefully for the small "TEL-HY" sign on your left and turn into the narrow lane beside it. Look for the ACRES parking lot to your left at the top of the hill. Driving distance from I-69 to the preserve is 23-½ miles.

A gift in 1995 from Hy and Lorry Goldenberg.  41 acres with over a mile of trails.

In Hebrew, "Hy" means life and "Tel" means high.  The preserve is aptly named, with high bluffs giving a splendid view of the winding Wabash River, and the preserve is alive with wildflowers and large, old trees.  Ravines have beech and hard maple while the hillsides display patches of wild ginger, celandine poppy, Virginia blue bell and rue anemone.

Also, check out a part of Hy's outhouse collection on the preserve.
