You will pass the ACRES property to your left as you approach the county preserve entrance. Trails start in the county's preserve and cross into ACRES’ preserve. Driving distance from I-69/I-469 to the preserve is 49-½ miles.
The county's Maple Wood Nature Center is open on Sundays 1-5 (except in July), Wednesdays 8-4 and Saturdays 9-5. The center has a full-time naturalist and a variety of programs offered year round. Maple sugar is tapped from their trees for the Maple Syrup Days Festival each March. A meandering trail winds among tall trees and dense
stands of wildflowers. Putty root orchid, crane fly orchid, green
dragon and butternut trees are a few of the unusual plants on the
preserve. In the spring, a carpet of large-flowered trillium covers
the ground.
