         Fogwell Forest
        Nature Preserve

Southwest of Fort Wayne in Allen County. From Fort Wayne (I-69 exit 99) take Airport Expressway east, turn left onto Lower Huntington Road and then right onto Whippoorwill Drive. Drive to the end of the lane and park in the cul-de-sac, where the path to the preserve starts. Driving distance from I-69 to the preserve is 2 miles.

The wooded west 28 acres was acquired in 1976, a gift of Mabel Corville, Glenn Fogwell and Mildred Klopfenstein.  The 30-acre meadow on the east side was purchased in 2004.  A .5 mile loop trail leads through the woods.

The original 28 wooded acres have been dedicated through IDNR's Division of Nature Preserves.

The forest features beech trees and giant oaks, flowering dogwood and paw paw, and a wildflower display.  It is habitat for squirrels, raccoons and great horned owls.
