 Bibler Nature Preserve

East of Antioch in Jay County. From Fort Wayne (I-469 exit 11) take US 27 south through Decatur, Berne, and Portland. South of Portland turn left (east) on 500S and then right (south) on 400E. Look for the ACRES parking lot on your right. Driving distance from I-69 to the preserve is 50-½ miles.

These 105 acres were gifted by Louis A. Bibler and Paul R. Bibler in 1993.  Two miles of loop trails.

Trails travel through old farm fields, grasslands, along a rocky stream and through a woods of oak, hickory and maple trees.  There are large stand of the rare twinleaf and  Solomon's-seal.  Two small streams form the north and west boundaries of the lands.  The nature preserve was part of the Bibler Homestead, known as Spring Brook Farm.  Louis A. Bibler has authored a charming book of childhood at Spring Brook Farm during the 1920's, entitled Back Home Again.
