     Privileges of membership:
  • Votes annually for members of the Board of Directors.
  • Can nominate individuals to run for the Board (with nine others).
  • Invited to annual dinner/meeting in November or December.
  • Automatically receives "The ACRES Quarterly."
 
 

Becoming a member:
Any person or organization is eligible for membership who pays the annual membership dues and who evidence an interest in and support of the purposes and programs of ACRES, Inc.

 

Dues can be paid by cash, check, money order, or credit card. Dues may be mailed directly to the office (see address above), or presented to an ACRES representative, who is often present at ACRES-sponsored functions. MasterCard and Visa can be used over the phone. Click here for a membership form to fill out and mail in with your dues.

The board of directors may select life-long honorary members, who do not have voting privileges.


MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Privileges and responsibilities of directors:

  • Has say in determining policies and programs of ACRES, Inc.
  • Has say in management of properties and activities of ACRES, Inc.
  • Has access to all information, reports and statements involving ACRES, Inc.
  • Must participate actively in the board meetings.
  • Must publicly support the policies and purposes of ACRES, Inc.
 
 

Becoming a director:
Three directors are elected each year to fill three-year terms of office on the board.

A nomination for director may be made by the membership through a written notice signed by ten members and the nominee presented to the Secretary at least 40 days prior to the election.

In addition to the elected directors, three non-elected directors are appointed one each by the Indiana Department of Education, the Indiana Park and Recreation Association, and the Indiana Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
